Rockies No. 2 Prospect Continues to Dominate at Triple-A
Not much has gone right for the Colorado Rockies this season.
Heading into Thursday, the Rockies own the worst record in baseball at 28-47. Colorado will more likely than not be a seller ahead of the August 3 MLB trade deadline.
That could open the door for Charlie Condon, the Rockies' No. 2 prospect and MLB Pipeline's No. 72 overall prospect, to make his major league debut at some point this season.
Condon, 23, was selected by Colorado with the third overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. He began the 2026 season with Triple-A Albuquerque after posting 11 home runs, 38 RBIs, and an .807 OPS across 55 games with Double-A Hartford last season.
Since then, Condon has continued to impress while displaying his immense potential.
In 62 games with Triple-A Albuquerque this season, the first baseman/outfielder is slashing .264/.392/.523 with 14 home runs and 44 RBIs.
The former Georgia superstar has kicked things into another gear in June. In 14 games this month, Condon is slashing .269/.397/.712 with six home runs and 19 RBIs. Notably, one of those home runs came off rehabbing Houston Astros starter Cristian Javier.

Condon's production suggests he could be nearing a major league call-up. Even if Colorado doesn't trade lineup pieces that would create additional playing time, it's getting harder to justify keeping his bat in the minors.
Outfielders Mickey Moniak and Jake McCarthy, along with utilityman Willi Castro, all cracked ESPN's Top 100 2026 trade deadline candidates list. Additionally, first baseman TJ Rumfield and outfielder Troy Johnston have previously been linked to the Arizona Diamondbacks, according to Ken Rosenthal.
If any of those position players are moved, Condon would become an obvious candidate for promotion. The young slugger has split time between first base and right field this season. That versatility adds to an already strong case for a call-up.
Nonetheless, Condon is proving he is ready for the opportunity. The Rockies recently promoted outfielder Cole Carrigg, who has already hit three home runs in just nine games. Condon may not be far behind.

When Colorado decides the time is right, Condon will look to establish himself as a future cornerstone for a franchise that has lacked one since the departure of Nolan Arenado.
