Knicks Fans Accused Of 'Classless' Chant During Parade Thursday
New York Knicks fans are already taking heat on social media for a "classless" chant before the team's championship parade on Thursday.
Millions of Knicks fans are attending Thursday morning's NBA Finals parade, which starts at Battery Park and ends up at City Hall. It's expected to be a celebratory - and raucous - day in New York City.
But before the parade started, Knicks fans led each other in a derogatory, "(Expletive) Wemby!" chant.
Victor Wembanyama was on the receiving end of a lot of these chants throughout the NBA Finals. It appears that the San Antonio Spurs star is still top of mind for a lot of New York Knicks fans and supporters, even at their team's championship parade.
"Uncalled for but appropriate," one fan wrote.
"Classy," one fan added.
"Knicks won a championship but Wemby is all we keep hearing? He's the new Knicks Daddy," one fan added.
"Classless as always, Knicks fans," one fan added.
Michelle Beadle tees off on Knicks fans
NBA host and Spurs fan Michelle Beadle has been fed up with the behavior of Knicks fans, too.
Beadle sarcastically told Knicks fans to go "burn something" down.
"One of my favorite things that's come out of all of this is the crying that has occurred because it appeared Wemby didn't shake the hands of the Knicks afterward, and now we don't like that," Beadle said in a mocking tone this week on Run It Back. "'It's arrogant, he's a bad guy,' there's a lot of Knicks fans doing that to whom I respond, go burn something else down and maybe worry about what's classy and what's not."
Full coverage of the Knicks parade is expected to air live on ESPN throughout the day on Thursday. We're expecting a lot of viral moments throughout the day.
