Dodgers' Mookie Betts and His Daughter Star in Adorable ‘Toy Story 5' Promo

Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Mookie Betts is a man of multiple talents.

In MLB, Betts seamlessly transitioned from Gold Glove-level outfielder to dazzling shortstop, collecting four World Series championships along the way. Away from the diamond, he is also an exceptional bowler, a scratch golfer, and a charismatic podcaster.

Add actor and director to the list.

On Thursday, MLB posted a behind-the-scenes video from the promo spot Betts filmed with his seven-year-old daughter, Kynlee, for “Toy Story 5.” Kynlee was over it and started to walk away when Betts said, “Kynlee, you can’t leave, girl.”

In the original promo spot, Betts is knocking the baseball around and calls out to Kynlee to “come out here and hit a few.” She’s engulfed in her Lilypad, the antagonist of “Toy Story 5” in the dugout. Jessie, Buzz Lightyear, Slinky, and Woody intervene to get Kynlee to go play with her day.

In real life, Betts is averaging .203/.367/.633 with seven home runs and 18 RBI for the back-to-back reigning champion Dodgers (48-27) so far this season.

Nothing can rival the enduring legacy of the “Toy Story” franchise, but the Dodgers can come close by becoming the third MLB franchise to three-peat this year. The New York Yankees last pulled it off from 1998 to 2000, four “Toy Story” movies ago.

“Toy Story 5,” in theatres Friday, follows the world’s most famous toys face a work shortage in the face of technology. Now, all kids want to do is sit on Lilypad, so the gang gets back together to revive the lost art of playing with actual toys.
