Ronaldo's Influence Reaches Houston as Police Chief Does 'SIUU' With IShowSpeed

Cristiano Ronaldo's influence keeps showing up in places that have nothing to do with soccer, and the latest example came courtesy of a police chief in Houston.

The Portuguese superstar's signature "Siuu" celebration has become one of the most recognized moments in sports, copied by athletes and fans across the globe. The routine never changes.

Ronaldo sprints toward the corner flag or a section of fans, leaps into the air and spins before landing with his feet planted wide and his back to the crowd. He throws his arms down and back, puffs out his chest and lets out a loud "Siiiii," a celebration that has become shorthand for his success on the field.

Houston Police Chief Joins In With IShowSpeed

That same energy showed up before the Mexico vs South Korea match, where popular streamer IShowSpeed was filming with his mic and live stream running.

Houston's police chief spotted him in the VIP stand and broke into the celebration on the spot. IShowSpeed matched him right back, then the two posed for a photo together.

It was a small moment, but it captured just how far Ronaldo's reach has traveled outside the sport that made him famous. The celebration has become a regular sight across American sports as well.

NFL players including Davante Adams, George Pickens, Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster and Xavier Worthy have all pulled it out after big plays or in training. Giannis Antetokounmpo has done the same in the NBA on more than one occasion.

Even outside American leagues, the celebration has found a home, with MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo and tennis star Novak Djokovic both adopting it during big moments of their own. Much of that appeal comes down to the raw emotion behind it, the kind of release that translates across every sport regardless of language or country.

IShowSpeed, one of Ronaldo's most vocal fans, has helped push that moment to an even bigger audience, and scenes like the one in Houston suggest it isn't slowing down anytime soon.
