Angel Reese Accused Of Taking 'Shameless' Jab At Caitlin Clark

The rivalry between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark added yet another chapter this Thursday night - both on and off the court.

Reese had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Atlanta Dream to a 108-101 win over the Indiana Fever. Although the crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse was rowdy at times, the Dream never lost their composure. It certainly helps that Jordin Canada, Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard stepped up with timely buckets.

"We kind of talked a little bit at halftime about not getting comfortable," Reese said. "I think we kind of stayed together and continued to push. We knew they were going to go on a run, especially with their crowd. When their crowd gets into it, I think they feel that energy, and they did a great job with that."

Prior to tipoff Thursday night, Reese showed up to the arena with her newest Reebok sneakers. While it appears she was just proud of her shoe's new colorway, fans are convinced she was taking a jab at Clark.

Earlier this week, Nike released a first look at Clark's signature sneaker, the Caitlin 1. As you'd imagine, the former No. 1 pick also pulled up to Gainbridge Fieldhouse with her new sneakers in her hands.

"Reebok announcing hers a day after CC is crazy," one fan said. "I'm not an AR hater or fan either but it's clear what they are trying to do."

"Shamelessly riding those coattails once again," a second fan commented.

"Now she comes in with her shoes like Clark just did. Yet more evidence she's completely jealous," another person wrote.

"How miserable is she, couldn't wait to debut her shoes any other game," a fan asked.

Nike has big plans for Caitlin.

Back in 2024, Nike signed Clark to an eight-year, $28 million deal. Although it took time to create a signature shoe, the brand is hopeful the Caitlin 1 can pay homage to her basketball journey.

"I wanted this to be something that looked different than something that's on the shelves," Clark said. "But I also wanted it to be something that people are comfortable wearing. I got really crazy and expressive with the colors, and I think that kind of speaks to my love for inspiring the next generation and how they love to express themselves."

Nike has Clark's sneakers priced at $140. It's unclear if they'll become Nike's next big thing in the basketball community.
