Bubba Wallace, 23XI Racing Facing Significant Penalty Sunday
NASCAR's Cup Series race has been a difficult one for Bubba Wallace on Sunday.
The 23XI Racing driver has had an up-and-down season, failing to break through while his teammate, Tyler Reddick, racked up a ton of big wins early on. Wallace was hoping to gain some momentum on Sunday. However, things have not been going well.
Wallace was just dealt a multi-lap penalty as multiple members of his 23XI Racing team will be suspended for multiple races, after he lost a tire during an early lap at the Anduril 250 on Sunday afternoon.
It's a significant blow to Wallace and his team.
"Wallace loses a wheel between Turns 9 and 10. Caution. Wallace will be held two laps and he will have two crew members suspended for two weeks," Bob Pockrass shared.
"A two-lap hold here means Wallace will be sitting there in his pit stall for about 10 minutes."
NASCAR fans react to the penalty
"It was pretty clear they didn't get that tightened, can't believe the crew chief didn't call him back or have him stop somewhere else," NASCAR fans shared.
"Why didn't the crew tell him to stop in another Toyota pit stall. Tire changer knew it wasnt on?" one fan added.
"Should be able to at least be back on lead lap by end of the race I would think with wave arounds," another wrote.
"Let him get out of the car and go have a nice friendly conversation with his crew," another shared.
It's been a disappointing afternoon for Wallace and his 23XI Racing team, that's clear by now.
