Not surprisingly, there’s apparently a “strong market” for Johnson in the NBA draft. Scouts are impressed, and his name is expected to be called early in the process.

In a last-minute mock, Jeremy Woo of ESPN has Johnson going at No. 12, just one slot below Michigan star Aday Mara. “There appears to be a strong market for Johnson’s services, with a wide range of teams interested in the mid-to-late lottery. It remains to be seen how high he can climb on draft night, but he has wide appeal as a physical, plug-and-play rotation player who is just 20 years old.”

My Take: Michigan’s Morez Johnson Jr. is Moving Up

Johnson Jr. is climbing draft boards because he offers something every team wants: size, toughness and a relentless ability to deliver. And he can win. The 6-foot-9 forward impacts games without needing plays called for him, thriving as a rebounder, rim protector and physical interior presence.

Scouts have been impressed by his defensive versatility, energy and willingness to do the dirty work. He’s also flashed improving offensive instincts around the basket and as a passer.

As teams look beyond pure scoring and prioritize winning traits, Johnson’s combination of effort, athleticism and what could be in the future continues to boost his stock. It’ll be exciting to see where he ends up.
