ESPN Adds Former NFL Quarterback Chase Daniel To 'SEC Nation' Crew
Although Laura Rutledge won't be hosting "SEC Nation" this fall, ESPN has gone above and beyond to ensure the show still has enough firepower.
It was confirmed on Wednesday that former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy finalist Chase Daniel is joining "SEC Nation" for this upcoming season. He'll also be featured on "Thursday Night Primetime CFB" as part of his multiyear deal with ESPN.
"To everyone who's watched the YouTube breakdowns, listened to the podcasts, watched on TV, or supported this next chapter after my playing career…thank you. None of this happens without you," Daniel said. "I can't wait to hit the road with SEC Nation, call national ESPN games on Thursday nights, break down the NFL, and bring you guys even more football all season long."
Meg Aronowitz, ESPN's SVP of Production, said Daniel will bring "extensive football knowledge and an authentic perspective" to the network's college football coverage.
Get to know Chase Daniel.
Prior to becoming a broadcaster, Daniel played in the NFL for 14 seasons. Although he didn't match the success he had at Missouri (4,306 yards and 33 touchdowns in 2007), he still made over $41.8 million.
Before leaving Missouri for the NFL, Daniel set the school's all-time total-yards mark. He later earned a Super Bowl ring with the New Orleans Saints.
Daniel, who previously worked for Fox Sports, joined ESPN in 2025 and called a few college football games for the network. Judging by this Wednesday's announcement, ESPN's top decision-makers were pleased with his work.
