A look at the Seahawks’ next opponent, the San Francisco 49ers

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (3-6)

1:25 p.m. Sunday, CenturyLink Field

Line: Seahawks by 11.

Against the Seahawks: Seattle leads the series, 19-15. San Francisco has lost four in a row and six of the past seven in the series. Seattle has outscored the 49ers 56-13 in the past three meetings, including 20-3 on Oct. 22 in Santa Clara, California.

What to know: The 49ers are coming off their bye. … Since last playing the Seahawks, San Francisco has lost 27-6 at St. Louis, benched QB Colin Kaepernick and inserted Blaine Gabbert, and won 17-16 at home over Atlanta. … Gabbert threw two touchdown passes to TE Garrett Celek against the Falcons. … While saying it might be a week-to-week determination, coach Jim Tomsula said Gabbert will start at Seattle. … Why Kaepernick isn’t: He’s 1-6 in his career against the Seahawks, with three TD passes, nine interceptions and 24 sacks. … The 49ers have gained 142 and 164 total yards in their past two games against Seattle with Kaepernick at quarterback. Their total last month against Seattle was their lowest offensive output since November 2006. … San Francisco is last in the league in points per game (14) and total offense (286.2 yards) and 30th in passing (181.6 yards). … RB Shaun Draun started against Atlanta because Carlos Hyde has a stress fracture in his foot and hasn’t played since the 49ers and Seahawks last met. Draun had 58 yards rushing in his debut. Hyde is iffy to play Sunday. … WR Torrey Smith, signed as free agent from Baltimore before the season, had no catches and just one target when Seattle All-Pro CB Richard Sherman shadowed him last month. Expect more of Sherman’s shadow Sunday. … WR Anquan Boldin might not play because of a hamstring injury. … San Francisco held Atlanta to 17 yards rushing on 14 carries. Falcons RB Devonta Freeman entered that game as the NFL’s leading rusher but gained just 12 yards. … LB NaVorro Bowman will play in Seattle for the first time since shredding his knee in the NFC title game in January 2014. He has 88 tackles in nine games.

Quotable: “It’s going to be a true test going to Seattle and see how he does in that environment.” – 49ers center Daniel Kilgore on Gabbert getting another start.
