High school sports roundup for Monday, Jan. 4
BOYS BASKETBALL
It took until overtime, but Cascade Christian emerged victorious over Hoquiam, 77-72.
The Cougars saw four players score in double digits, but it was Jesse Howells and Grayson Jones that led the way.
Howells scored 19 points on the night, including six crucial points in the extra period for Cascade Christian.
Jones nearly matched him with 18 points of his own.
The Grizzlies found their offensive flow through Jack Adams, as he put up 33 points on the night. Jace Vanner also hit double digits with 12 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Stadium was able to eke out a win over Spanaway Lake, 46-45, on Monday.
The Tigers barely edged out the Sentinels, 46-45, because of a big night from Vanessa Higgins and Anna Murray.
Vanessa Higgins dropped 17 points and Anna Murray added 13 of her own for the Tigers. Every point mattered down the stretch as Spanaway Lake tried to mount a fourth quarter comeback.
Chinedu Nnadi was the high scorer for Spanaway Lake as she put up 17 points of her own.
Bellevue Christian 44, Life Christian 25: Nicole Bloch and Sperry McQuaid had big nights as they combined for 26 points in the Vikings win.
BOWLING
Franklin Pierce took a road victory from Stadium in a 7-0 shutout at Chalet Bowl.
The Cardinals’ Ashlie Bluhm was the high bowler on the day as she rolled a 301 (games of 152, 149) en route to the team's total score of 1,471 total pins.
For the Tigers, Lillian Woodworth was the top bowler as she rolled a 279 (162, 117) to help her team reach 1,277.
