UW Huskies add from transfer portal, get commitment from former Nebraska receiver
Washington is still adding ahead of the 2022 football season.
Wednesday morning, the Huskies received their third commitment — and second transfer announcement — of the week when former Nebraska wide receiver Will Nixon announced on social media he is headed to Seattle.
Nixon, who has three seasons of eligibility remaining, joins the Huskies after two seasons in the Big Ten.
He appeared in three games on offense for Nebraska in 2021 after missing his true freshman season with an injury in 2020.
Nixon was considered a three-star recruit in the 2020 class and ranked the No. 115 receiver nationally and No. 94 player in Texas by 247Sports.com composite.
He also held offers from Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Purdue, Baylor, Duke, Kansas State, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Maryland, North Texas, Penn State, Rice, Temple, Tulsa and Virginia Tech before choosing Nebraska.
In high school, Nixon was impact player for Midway (Texas) as both a receiver and lining up in the backfield. His senior season, he finished with 2,807 scrimmage yards and 29 total touchdowns, while rushing for 1,837 yards and 27 scores and adding 250 receiving yards.
Nixon is the third commitment UW has added in three days. Former Virginia running back Wayne Taulapapa announced his transfer on Monday, while three-star Adelanto (Calif.) receiver Keith Reynolds committed to the Huskies’ 2023 class later that day.
