Salvon Ahmed, star recruit from Juanita High, announces commitment to Huskies

Juanita High School star Salvon Ahmed, one of the top-rated football recruits in the state of Washington, announced a commitment on Friday afternoon to play football for the Washington Huskies.

Ahmed, listed by recruiting services as an “athlete,” is a consensus 4-star prospect and considered by Scout.com to be the No. 174 overall prospect in the 2017 recruiting class. Scout.com lists him at 6-foot and 186 pounds. He announced his decisions during a ceremony at his school.

He chose the Huskies over Notre Dame, Stanford, USC and Oregon.

According to this Scout.com analysis, Ahmed, might project best as a cover corner, but is athletic enough to play on either side of the ball. Ahmed told Scout.com that UW is recruiting him as an athlete, and that he could play on either or both sides of the ball for the Huskies.

Ahmed’s commitment gives the Huskies 13 known commitments for the 2017 class, seven of whom are rated as 4-star prospects. UW also has commitments from three of the top four recruits in Washington state, adding Ahmed to a class that includes Sumner athlete Connor Wedington and Eastside Catholic tight end Hunter Bryant.

The state’s No. 1 recruit, five-star Graham Kapowsin offensive lineman Foster Sarell, is still undecided. He is considering Stanford, Washington, Notre Dame, Alabama and Michigan.
