Washington will receive $4.1 million for playing its 2018 season opener against Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the new Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, according to a copy of the term sheet obtained by the News Tribune.
As part of the agreement, UW will be required to purchase (and then sell) an allotment of 7,917 tickets from Peach Bowl, Inc. (PBI), the organization promoting the game, at a cost of $1,792,825. Tickets must go on sale no later than March 1, 2018.
The game is scheduled for Sept. 1, 2018, and will air on either ABC or ESPN. A kickoff time has not been announced.
Some other details from the term sheet:
--- UW will receive three, complimentary 22-person suites to accommodate the president, athletic director and coach (and their families).
--- In addition to the $4.1 million payout, PBI will provide 100 complimentary hotel rooms for use by the team on Aug. 31, the night before the game, and will provide 125 complimentary tickets for the team to visit the College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta. UW and Auburn will pay for their own team transportation.
--- Pending agreement from UW and Auburn, beer will be available for purchase in the stadium, with sales being cut off at the end of halftime.
--- The game officials and replay officials (and equipment) will be brought in from a conference other than the Pac-12 or SEC.
--- Each school will receive 70 sideline passes.
--- PBI will provide game-day management and operations, including the field crew, chain crew, clock operator, etc.
--- PBI will organize an official “fan VIP hospitality function” for each fan base.
--- Chick-fil-A and PBI have the right to “activate promotional activities” around UW’s 2018 spring game at Husky Stadium in an effort to “generate excitement and ticket sales” for the game in Atlanta. Such promotion could include complimentary Chick-fil-A food for media, staff, team and fans around the stadium, as well as in-stadium messaging on the video and ribbon boards.
