Jake Browning ‘day to day’ after injuring shoulder against Oregon

Like every other player in Washington’s program who is injured but not out for the season, quarterback Jake Browning is “day to day,” UW coach Chris Petersen said at his Monday press conference.

Browning injured his right throwing shoulder late in Saturday’s 26-20 loss to Oregon. He was sacked and stripped of the ball on UW’s final touchdown drive, though the play was nullified due to a penalty against the Ducks. Browning hurt his shoulder on the play, but stayed in the game long enough to throw a touchdown pass to Jaydon Mickens three plays later.

When the Huskies took the field for their next possession, redshirt freshman K.J. Carta-Samuels was at quarterback. Petersen said he isn’t sure if Carta-Samuels would start on Saturday against Stanford if Browning can’t play, saying that both Carta-Samuels and Jeff Lindquist would receive practice repetitions in such an instance.
