Scott Woodward introduced at Texas A&M, jabs Seattle Seahawks fans (and other Huskies links)
Scott Woodward, who is leaving the University of Washington to become athletic director at Texas A&M, snuck in a jab at Seattle Seahawks fans on Monday during his introductory press conference in College Station.
Texas A&M owns the trademark for the phrase “12th Man,” and has been licensing its use to the Seattle Seahawks since it settled a lawsuit against the franchise in 2006 (that deal, which paid Texas A&M a sum of $100,000 plus $5,000 annually, is actually set to expire this year, though the Seahawks have shifted to using the term “12s” instead).
Woodward acknowledged the semi-dispute during his introduction.
