Husky Combine notes (updated): John Ross timed at 4.25 seconds in 40-yard dash, Budda Baker runs a 4.35 (and more)

--- Junior defensive back Budda Baker posted some impressive numbers, running a 4.35-second 40-yard dash to go along with a 36.5-inch vertical leap and a 9-foot, 11-inch broad jump.
The 40 time was especially important, Baker said, because he gained weight this offseason -- that has always been a goal for him -- and is now up to 184 pounds. He played last season in the 170-171 range, and hopes to get up to 190 this offseason before playing at about 185 or so.
“This year, it was just about the start, because last year I was just going off really athleticism,” Baker said of his 40 time, which was the fastest he’s ever run. “Coaches helped a lot with my first 10 steps, because usually your first 10 yards is going to tell you what your 40 is. I’m very happy I got better at that, but there’s always room for improvement.”
Having Ross back, Baker said, is “amazing. We do our player practices, and just seeing him run routes and running deep balls and all that type of stuff just makes me really excited for him.”
Here is a (poor quality) video I took of Ross’ 40-yard dash.
--- Junior receiver Dante Pettis and senior defensive back Kevin King ruled the vertical leap competition. Pettis jumped 41 inches, and King fell just shy of his goal of 40 inches with an official mark of 39.5.
“We’ve been talking about that for a little while, battling, trying to reach that 40 mark,” King said. “He got it, but I was a little shy of it. Next time, I’m going to get it for sure.”
King, who was listed in 2015 at 6-foot-3 and 183 pounds, said he’s gained about 10 pounds since the end of the season.
--- Tight end David Ajamu, whose 2015 season was cut short by a knee injury in October, participated in the event and appears relatively healthy.
