Notes, highlights, observations from Huskies’ sixth practice of the spring

It was another sunny morning on Montlake, where the Washington Huskies dressed in full pads for the first time this spring and conducted their sixth workout of the spring season. Here are some notes.

--- Still no sign of sophomore receiver Isaiah Renfro, who has missed UW’s last five practices. UW coach Chris Petersen is scheduled to speak with reporters on Friday, so we can ask about Renfro then.

--- Everyone else was in attendance, though LT Trey Adams, DB Austin Joyner, WR Quinten Pounds, WR Brayden Lenius, DB Brandon Beaver, DL Jason Scrempos and DL Jared Pulu all remain either out or limited. Looked like OL Jake Eldrenkamp was doing a little more today than he has been. Sophomore LB Ben Burr-Kirven was examined by trainers and then sat the final portion of practice with a bag of ice on his left knee.

--- The highlight of practice was probably Lavon Coleman’s 60ish-yard touchdown run that he broke up the middle during an 11-on-11 period. The offense also put a touchdown on the board when Jake Browning lofted a pass to John Ross III that Ross juggled amid coverage from walk-on defensive back Dustin Bush, then hauled in before stepping into the end zone.

Tony Rodriguez threw a touchdown pass to receiver Nik Little during a red-zone drill on the far end of the field, so not sure what the yardage was on it. Rodriguez also threw a red-zone interception to safety Trevor Walker, and later, sophomore cornerback Jordan Miller intercepted a pass thrown by Browning. That was after Browning threw a red-zone touchdown pass to Dante Pettis.

K.J. Carta-Samuels made a good throw to Chico McClatcher to highlight about a 40-yard touchdown drive capped by Jomon Dotson’s short touchdown run on fourth down inside the 5-yard line.

--- Sidney Jones dressed fully and participated in drills but I didn’t see him participate in any of the contact or scrimmage portions. The No. 1 defense employed a nickel package that featured Darren Gardenhire, Kevin King, Miller, Budda Baker and JoJo McIntosh.

--- The No. 1 offensive line remained the same as Monday, from left to right -- Andrew Kirkland, Michael Kneip, Coleman Shelton, Shane Brostek and Kaleb McGary. And the No. 2 offensive line still featured Jared Hilbers, Henry Roberts, Matt James, Jesse Sosebee and Devin Burleson.

--- Pettis, Pounds and Andre Baccellia each worked on catching punts with Petersen off to the side during drills.

--- The Huskies return to practice with an 8:30 a.m. session on Friday.
