Nate Robinson, Olin Kreutz, Bob Rondeau among 2016 Husky Hall of Fame inductees

The University of Washington announced its 2016 Husky Hall of Fame class on Tuesday. Here are this year’s inductees, via UW’s news release. You might recognize a few of the names.

Olin Kreutz (football, 1995-97)

Sara Pickering (softball, 1994-97)

Nate Robinson (basketball, 2003-05; football 2002)

Bob Rondeau (radio announcer, 1978-present)

Sanja Tomasevic (volleyball, 2002-05)

Brad Walker (track & field, 2002-05)

Mary Whipple (rowing, 1999-2002)

1984 Washington football team (winners of the 1985 Orange Bowl)

Additionally, longtime UW football stats crew chief Craig Heyamoto will be presented with the Don H. Palmer Award, which was established in 1994 to recognize those who have exemplified a special commitment to the UW Athletic Department. As the unpaid athletic team physician from 1904-1947, Dr. Palmer founded the Big W Alumni Club, the Homecoming Halftime Blanket Parade and the 101 Club. Past award winners include Bill Bissell (1995), Gertrude Peoples (1996), Bruce Terami (1998), Orrin Vincent II (2001) Don Smith (2004) and Stanley Pocock (2014).

Kreutz was a consensus All-American center as a junior in 1997 before leaving UW and embarking on a 14-year NFL career that featured six Pro Bowl selections.

Robinson came to UW on a football scholarship and played as a freshman -- his late interception in the 2002 Apple Cup remains the highlight of his football career -- before switching to basketball full-time. He played a starring role on two NCAA tournament teams, including in 2005 when the Huskies won the Pac-10 tournament championship and earned the school’s first No. 1 seed in the NCAA tourney, and was a first-round NBA draft pick later that year. He won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest three times and played for the Knicks, Celtics, Thunder, Warriors, Bulls, Nuggets, Clippers and Pelicans. Robinson currently plays in Israel.

Rondeau was recently named the 2016 recipient of the National Football Foundation’s Chris Schenkel Award, which recognizes broadcasters who have had distinguished careers with ties to one school.

The inductees will be honored at a ceremony held Oct. 22.
