Rory McIlroy is coming back to Charlotte.

The current No. 2-ranked golfer in the world, according to the Official World Golf Ranking, is no stranger to the Queen City. McIlroy has won the Wells Fargo Championship three times, one of just two golfers who have earned multiple championships at Charlotte’s marquee golf event.

McIlroy, now 34, will join previous champions Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Lucas Glover and Rickie Fowler on May 6-12 at Quail Hollow Club.

He won the first of his 24 career PGA Tour titles in 2010 at the Wells Fargo Championship, before winning in Charlotte again in 2015 and 2021. He’s won four more times since, including his third FedEx Cup title in 2022.

McIlroy and Max Homa, the event’s champion in 2019 and 2022, are the only golfers who have won the Wells Fargo Championship multiple times.
