Winner of The Olympian’s Athlete of the Week (Oct. 25 to 30)

Voting is now closed for The Olympian’s high school Athlete of the Week poll (Oct. 11 to 16). Thanks to everyone who voted and supported local student-athletes.

This week’s winner is:

Carlos Matheney, Tumwater football

He rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries in Tumwater’s 48-6 win over Centralia.

Palaina Hooper, Yelm: Tornados’ QB completed 21-of-29 passes and three touchdowns and Yelm’s win over Central Kitsap.

Ethan Coleman, Olympia cross country: Took first in the District 3/4 championship 4A cross country race with a time of 15 minutes, 29.7 seconds.

Caroline Penner, Capital soccer: Scored the opening goal in Capital’s 2-0 win over Lakes, clinching a berth in the state tournament for the first time since 2010 for the Cougars.

Trinitee Robertson, Timberline soccer: Scored one of Timberline’s three goals in 3-0 win over Silas.

Luke Bowser, North Thurston: In first start at quarterback, sophomore rushed for 104 yards on 13 carries in loss to Timberline.

Katelyn Rigg, Olympia soccer: Scored two of team’s three goals in 3-1 win against Curtis, then scored the lone goal in Olympia’s 1-0 win over Tahoma to secure a state tournament berth.

Carlos Matheney, Tumwater: Rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries in Tumwater’s 48-6 win over Centralia.

Takari Hickle, Tenino: Ruhsed for 212 yards and a touchdown in 52-8 win over Columbia - White Salmon.

Dig Zilla, Northwest Christian: Had three touchdowns, including a blocked punt returned for a touchdown in 73-0 win over Wishkah Valley.
