Puyallup High School four-star offensive lineman Gecova Doyal is staying home. Doyal announced his verbal commitment to the University of Washington on a Rivals live stream on Wednesday morning.

Doyal, a 6-foot-4, 295-pound offensive lineman, is considered a four-star recruit and the No. 5 high school prospect in the state of Washington in the 2027 class by Rivals.

He chose Washington over Oregon, UCLA, Utah and others.

Doyal was a first-team selection to The News Tribune’s 2025 All-Area and all-state teams and was a key part of Puyallup’s success, dominant both in run blocking and pass protection. The Vikings won the Class 4A South Puget Sound League, took the No. 1 seed into the 4A state tournament and advanced to the state tournament semifinals.

Doyal’s commitment represents another significant in-state recruiting win for UW coach Jedd Fisch, who has now secured commitments from five of the state’s top-ranked 2027 players: No. 1 Braylon Pope (Sumner receiver), No. 2 Tevita Nonu (O’Dea lineman), No. 5 Doyal, No. 7 Maurice Williams (Timberline corner) and No. 8 Zach Albright (Glacier Peak tight end).
