Peterson resigns as SMU volleyball coach
Saint Martin’s University volleyball coach Kara Peterson resigned Monday after three seasons with the program.
She was 13-73 during her career at SMU. The Saints finished last in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference this season at 1-19 (2-24 overall).
“I want to thank Coach Peterson for her hard work and contribution to our women’s volleyball program,” SMU Athletic Director Bob Grisham said. “We wish her well for the future.”
Peterson was hired in February 2013 after spending 15 seasons building the Black Hills High School volleyball program since the school opened in 1997. She led the Wolves to 12 state tournament appearances while compilling a 213-93 record.
A nation-wide search for Peterson’s replacement will begin immediately, SMU said in a press release Monday.
“It is important we move quickly with the search process to find the best coach for our program,” Grisham said.
