Wilson Rams swim their way to 3A West Central District 3 title; Steilacoom finishes in second

The Wilson Rams scored 204 points and took first place honors Saturday by defeating North Thurston by 47 points at the 3A West Central District 3 swimming and diving championships at Hazen High School in Renton.

Evan Chard won the 200 individual medley, finishing in two minutes, 3.5 seconds. Chard also won the 100 backstroke in 56.59 seconds.

Wilson won both the 200 free relay (1:32.32) and the 400 free relay (3:23.99).

Rafael Rodriguez of Sumner won the one-meter diving event, scoring 430.70 points for the Spartans.

Auburn Mountainview landed in third place overall (136 points), while Shelton took fifth place (132) and Enumclaw finished in seventh (97).

2A DISTRICT SWIMMING

Steilacoom took second place in the 2A West Central District 3 swimming and diving championships at Lindbergh High School in Renton.

The Sentinels scored 194.5 points, finishing a half-point behind first place Kingston (195).

Steilacoom did finish in first place in two relay events: the 200 medley relay (Noah Burlingame, Seth Koivisto, Vaughn Christensen, Connor Barr) in 1:45.99 and the 200 freestyle relay (Connor Barr, Williams Taylor, Koivisto, and Steven Froehle) in 1:35.32.

Joseph Claypoole took first place for Clover Park in the 100 freestyle individual event in a time of 50.73.

North Kitsap took fourth place overall (136 points), while Clover Park finished in eighth place (59) and Fife ended in 10th place (54).
