Pete Carroll on Wilson-Seahawks talks: ‘A lot of work being done ...We are hoping for it’
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll gave his first public comments in almost a month on the contract negotiations with quarterback Russell Wilson, which the team had hoped it'd had completed by now, 15 days before training camp begins.
Speaking at the inaugural Sports Humanitarian of the Year Awards event Tuesday night in Los Angeles, Carroll told Yahoo! Sports’ “The PostGame”: “He’s crucial -- as all of our guys are. We love Russell and we want him back playing for us forever.
“There’s a lot of work being done,” Carroll said, with a shrug. “It’s underway right now, and maybe it happens. I don’t know. We are hoping for it.”
