Sounders travel (and travel) to Montreal

No Sounders training today, and the club already has begun its journey to Quebec, where they will meet the Montreal Impact on Saturday.

Seattle teams have notoriously difficult travel sometimes, and the Sounders’ say this is their toughest MLS travel day of the season.

“It’s the toughest one because you can’t get there direct,” coach Sigi Schmid said. “I think we fly to Toronto and then Toronto to Montreal. So you’ve got to beat the airport at 6 (a.m.) and then you don’t get to Montreal until like 6:30 at night. It’s basically a lost day except for travel. You’ve got to be sure you’ve got your food properly sorted away.”

Lamar Neagle, who played a season in Montreal, agrees.

“You’re crossing the border and it’s way up on the other side in the Northeast,” he said. “So definitely (the toughest).”
