Sounders’ general manager Garth Lagerwey met with local media for more than a half hour this morning. I’ll be back with more later, but here are some of the prime highlights:

* The Sounders will get younger before next season.

* Those younger players will surround the exisiting older DPs and stars, who Lagerwey believes have a remaining prime window of two to three years.

* The club has offered Stanford’s Jordan Morris the largest homegrown contract in league history.

* The Sounders have remaining allocation money, but for now their roster and international slots are topped out, although that could change before Dec.1.

* Lagerwey didn’t reveal any names of players who are retiring but he implied some are at least considering it.

* Lagerwey expects no significant effects to him regarding the alteration of Sounders’ ownership, and he said there was no real discussion about replacing coach Sigi Schmid.

* There isn’t yet an updated timeline for the return of central defender Roman Torres

Schmid and a handful of Sounders players will meet with media this afternoon, so I’ll be back with more after that.
