The Seattle Sounders open their preseason at 5 p.m., meeting the Vancouver Whitecaps in a Desert Friendly in Tucson, Ariz.

As expected, the Sounders are starting in a 4-3-3 formation: GK Frei; D , Ockford, Marshall, Jones; M Alonso, Friberg, Ivanschitz; F Martins, Dempsey, Valdez.

We are told the game will consist of three 45-minute periods.

This game is being played at the secondary field, which includes no pressbox or electricity, so there may not be another blog post here until after the match. I will us twitter -- @donruiztnt -- for most updates. And the game will be streamed at SoundersFC.com.
