Friberg, Mears full-in at Sounders training
The Seattle Sounders went through a shorter-than-usual training session today at Starfire.
“We wanted to work a little on our possession, we wanted to work a little 10-v-10,” coach Sigi Schmid said. “It’s a little bit cool today, so we wanted to get in and out: Get the work done and get out of here.”
The top news was that midfielder Erik Friberg (concussion protocol) and defender Tyrone Mears (quad) were full participants.
Both had missed the season-opener -- a 1-0 home loss to Sporting Kansas City -- and Schmid made it clear that a top priorty for fall and winter is a healthy club heading into the postseason.
“We want to get to the playoffs, and we want to be 100 percent healthy when we get there,” he said. “So we’ve got to make sure that we rotate guys as we get further into the season.”
