Rainy weather returns — but how long will it stay?
It was only a matter of time.
Rain returned to the South Sound on Thursday morning, breaking a 31-day streak of dry, mostly sunny days.
As of 8 a.m., Olympia had seen .05 inches of rain, a scant amount for any time other than summer.
The skies over Thurston County are expected to remain cloudy through Friday, but the high temperature could reach 80. The sun will return Saturday, and the area will see at least a four-day stretch with highs in the low 80s.
According to the weather service, Olympia went 31 days with no measurable rain, a welcome change after the wettest winter on record. Olympia recorded nearly 57 inches of precipitation from October 2016 to April 2017.
The return of rain was the talk of Twitter Thursday morning.
Ok, Washingtonians...I know we haven't had rain in a while, but be careful! Lots of crashes out there this morning. ☔️

We have some mixed feelings about the rain today. Headlights on, don't follow too closely and watch for slick conditions. pic.twitter.com/Do5MfodlGV
