Police searching for suspect in bank robbery
Police in Elma are looking for a man they say robbed a bank at gunpoint Thursday.
According to police, officers responded to Anchor Bank on South 3rd Street at 4:45 p.m. for a reported armed robbery.
Witnesses said the man entered the bank with a dark cloth covering his face and aggressively pointed a handgun at three employees while demanding money.
He ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The robber was described as 6 feet tall and medium build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes.
Officers from the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office, Montesano Police Department, Hoquiam Police Department, Washington State Patrol, state Department of Fish and Wildlife and Washington State Parks responded to the area to search for the suspect.
The FBI will help in the ongoing investigation.
