The Viking on Martin Way, a Lucky 7 convenience store on Pacific Avenue, and the Safeway on Yelm Highway failed a Lacey Police Department-led alcohol compliance check Friday night.

Using underage and undercover operatives, Lacey police checked 14 stores and seven bars/taverns. Of those 21 checks, three sold alcohol to minors, according to a news release.

Employees on the wrong end of those sales will be issued a criminal citation, and all of the businesses where the illegal sale took place will be referred to the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis board for further investigation.

Those businesses that did not sell alcohol to minors received a certificate of appreciation from police.

The Lacey Police Department conducts compliance checks regularly to reduce the availability of alcohol to those younger than 21, a news release reads.

Questions about the compliance checks should be directed to Sgt. Matt Koehler at the Lacey Police Department, 360-459-4333.
