Sylvester Park will close for 10 days — Tuesday through Sept. 29 — so that crews can work on the park’s grass, according to the state Department of Enterprise Services, which manages the park.

After taking a beating from crowds over the busy summer, work crews will aerate, seed and put down a layer of compost to improve the park’s soil.

People are asked to avoid entering the Capitol Way park during the closure to ensure the grass seed germinates properly.
