A sign you will see on the Capitol Campus in October: Stay off the grass
After a busy summer, work crews are set to improve an area of the state Capitol Campus known as the “great lawn on west campus,” according to the state Department of Enterprise Services.
Crews will aerate, seed and improve soil with compost.
The work will take place in three phases:
▪ Work on the turf north of the north diagonal began Tuesday.
▪ Work on the turf south of the south diagonal will begin Wednesday.
▪ Work on the turf between the two diagonals will begin Oct. 10.
People are asked to stay off the grass for two weeks following each phase.
It also could be stinky, wet and noisy. The compost will smell 1-2 days after application, and irrigation systems will operate during the day to keep new seeds moist for germination.
