Tenino singer performed in Las Vegas hours before shooting, ran from gunfire
Country singer Adam Craig, who has Tenino roots, performed at the Route 91 Harvest Festival Sunday night in Las Vegas hours before a gunman opened fire on the venue.
He appeared on the Next from Nashville stage at the outdoor festival just after 5 p.m., hours before the gunman shot at concertgoers during Jason Aldean’s set on the main stage.
Craig tweeted Monday morning, expressing gratitude that his family and crew were safe.
“Can’t believe last night really happened,” he wrote. “My heart is broken for all of the victims. ... So thankful my family and guys are all safe.”
Craig, who now resides in Nashville, spoke to the Tennessean newspaper Monday at the Nashville International Airport, describing the chaotic scene of the shooting.
Craig says in the video interview he could hear bullets hitting the cement and barbecues as he and others ran away from the area.
“That was the scariest night of my life,” he told the Tennessean.
Can't believe last night really happened. My heart is broken for all of the victims... So thankful my family and guys are all safe.
