Three injured in hit-and-run crash near Yelm
Two women were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 507 south of Yelm on Thursday morning.
The driver thought to have caused the crash sustained a head injury and ran from the scene, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Brooke Bova. He is described as a short Hispanic man wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
A K-9 unit was brought in to help search for the man.
The crash occurred at about 5:40 a.m. near the intersection with Manke Road. According to WSP, all three vehicles were northbound on Route 507 when one of them, a Chrysler sedan, slowed down to make a left turn. A Ford pickup behind it also slowed down, but a Ford van in the back struck the pickup, which then struck the sedan.
The driver of the sedan, a 29-year-old woman from Centralia, was taken to a local hospital with a broken nose and jaw. The pickup driver, a 24-year-old woman from Yelm, was taken to the hospital with neck and back injuries.
A 4-year-old boy in the pickup was not injured.
