They were ‘practicing their draw’ — until one of them was shot in the chest
A Chehalis man was seriously injured Saturday night in what is believed to have been an accidentally shooting, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred at 9 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Deep Creek Road in Chehalis. A 23-year-old Chehalis man was shot in the upper-right portion of his chest and transported in a personal vehicle to Providence Centralia Hospital. He was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim and two other people, a man and a woman, had unloaded their guns and were “practicing their draw.” One person reloaded a gun and it went off, striking the victim, according to the sheriff’s office.
The incident is under investigation.
