A rollover accident involving a pickup hauling a trailer snarled traffic Tuesday on U.S. Highway 101 near Mud Bay.

The incident occurred about 1 p.m. in the highway’s southbound lanes. The Olympia Fire Department reported that seven people were rescued from the rollover, which involved a Chevrolet Suburban and a 25-foot camping trailer.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Brooke Bova told The Olympian that the exact cause of the crash is unknown, but she confirmed the driver was not impaired. Two children were transported to a local hospital for “precautionary measures,” said Bova, adding that there were no life-threatening injuries to anyone in the vehicle.

One lane was reopened about 3 p.m. and crews were clearing debris from the roadway.
