2 women die after crash on southbound I-5 near Chehalis
Two women died over the weekend when three vehicles crashed on southbound Interstate 5 near Chehalis, the Washington State Patrol said late Sunday.
They were Jody M. Bagnariol, 63, of Hillsboro, Oregon, and Elisabeth R. Ruldoph, 50, of Seattle.
About 1 p.m. Saturday, the two women were southbound on I-5 in Lewis County when they stopped for traffic. A 21-year-old Centralia woman then crashed into the back of their car, pushing it into a third vehicle.
The Centralia woman was injured and taken to Providence Centralia Hospital; her 24-year-old male passenger was uninjured.
The driver of the third vehicle — a 46-year-old Auburn man — also was uninjured.
Bagnariol and Ruldoph were flown to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington, where they died Sunday.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
