Mask-wearing man emerges from closet while west Olympia family was home
Olympia police are looking for a masked man who emerged from a closet and surprised a west Olympia family Sunday night, a spokesman for the department said Monday.
The incident took place at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Cooper Point Road Southwest, Lt. Sam Costello said.
About 11 p.m. Sunday, a woman was putting her infant to sleep when the man emerged from a closet wearing a Phantom of the Opera-style mask and a “Deadpool” shirt. He then said, “I just wanted to play,” before fleeing the apartment through an open window.
A man living with the woman chased the masked man to Cooper Point Road before he lost track of him. A K9 track also was unsuccessful, Costello said.
There were no signs that anything was stolen from the apartment, so if found, the masked man likely would be arrested on suspicion of trespassing, he said.
There’s also a chance he entered the wrong apartment, Costello said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Olympia police at 360-753-8300.
