Marijuana edibles, candies seized from Olympia business
The Thurston County Narcotics Task Force seized a large amount of marijuana Monday from a medical marijuana business that authorities say was operating illegally.
Detectives seized marijuana, edibles, candies, creams and growing marijuana plants from Sonshine Organics Network on the 7700 block of Martin Way Southeast in Olympia.
According to a news release from Capt. David Johnson of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, the business had been visited personally by Sheriff John Snaza prior to July 1.
A state law took effect July 1 prohibiting medical marijuana businesses without proper licenses from operating in Washington.
During his visit, Snaza gave a letter to the business explaining the new law and that violations would not be tolerated.
Sonshine Organics received warnings from the Sheriff’s Office and the state Liquor and Cannabis Board, according to the release.
No one has been arrested, but two Sonshine Organics employees were interviewed. Both cooperated with detectives.
The Thurston County Prosecutor’s Office will decide whether to charge the two employees. The task force continues to investigate Sonshine Organics.
