Fayetteville Arkansas is the Unexpected Girls' Trip Destination of the Year
Fayetteville is a hidden gem that isn't trying to compete with bigger cities. My friend and I took a girls’ trip there, expecting a simple college town. Instead we discovered a “mini-Austin” with a “mini-Nashville” soul, set against a stunning Asheville-style mountain backdrop. There is a sophisticated arts and culture scene (bolstered by the Walmart / Walton family) and a hospitality landscape defined by an inspiring network of female business owners and operators.
Fayetteville Girls' Trip Highlights
Fayetteville feels creative, local and easygoing. The mix of women-led businesses, Ozark scenery, live music, brunch spots, wine bars and outdoor activities is the reason to return.

- Share wine flights and charcuterie boards at Ozark Charcuterie & Wine Bar
- Take a morning class at Trailside Yoga
- Have brunch at Prelude Breakfast Bar
- Catch live music at George's Majestic Lounge

Where to Stay: The Stonebreaker Hotel
The Stonebreaker Hotel is more like a retreat than a hotel because the setting is a wooded neighborhood above the downtown area. It is on Markham Hill, which is peaceful and secluded while still being close to Fayetteville's restaurants, trails and nightlife. We used the cold plunge pool and hot tub, tested some bourbons in the private members-only bar (guests have access) and we did NOT work out at the gym.
Morning coffee is delivered daily in a metal lunchbox with a Stanley thermos.
SheBuysTravel Tip:If you're traveling with friends, book a suite for the extra living space and outdoor patio with shower.
Best Food + Drinks in Fayetteville
Leverett Lounge
- WHY GO? Co-owned by local hospitality leader Reese Roberts, who creates an intimate space, specializing in well-crafted drinks, exceptional food and a relaxed atmosphere.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: An intimate and quirky setting with a bohemian vibe, eclectic decor, menu and friendly staff. The food is the win.
- WHAT WE LOVED: Well, everything! The menu changes, which keeps it interesting. We asked for an off-the-menu tasting – a little bit of everything. Since we ate late and there weren't many other patrons, the chef was able to make it happen.
Prelude Breakfast Bar
- WHY GO? Female-owned brunch destination famous for its bright interiors and creative menu.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: The atmosphere is lively and social with indoor and outdoor seating.
- WHAT WE LOVED: The pancake flight with options like "this is sin," "monkey chip" and "chai my latte." Our favorite was the plain – it had a hint of lemon flavor that we loved.
Little Bread Company
- WHY GO? Under co-owner Chloe Gallemore, this local staple focuses on from-scratch baking, offering high-quality pastries, sandwiches and quality coffee.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: Positive reinforcement art on the walls. Plus, the chocolate croissants are ginormous and my friend's egg, avo and sprouts sandwich checked off the healthy requirement.
Ozark Charcuterie & Wine Bar
- WHY GO? Mallory Files created this spot as a female-first environment where women can feel safe hanging out, sipping and vibing. We sipped fizzy drinks and wiped out the charcuterie board in this picture. Ozark is built entirely around the concept of gathering over wine and beautifully curated boards. Using locally sourced meats and cheeses, she specializes in the art of the graze.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: Think Pink. This is the ultimate “girl dinner.” It's interactive, social and the wine flights are specifically curated to pair with the delicious meats and cheeses on the boards. We both loved this place and recommend everyone go – including men with high EQ!
- WHAT WE LOVED: Mallory, every bite on the charcuterie board and the “speak-easy” entry that made it feel like a secret and very special place.
SheBuysTravel Tip:Sign the wall – add your voice to the signature walls in the bathroom. Spend an extra minute reading the messages and celebrating the joy this venue brings to all who cross its threshold.
Fun Things to Do
Trailside Yoga
- WHY GO? This women-led studio, located near the Razorback walking trail, welcomed us with tranquility and good vibes and yoga instructors who catered to our skill levels. Kim posed and stretched like all good Yoginis, and I, the non-yoga girl, reverted to more than a few baby poses.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: It's the ultimate "wakeup" button. After a night of travel or drinks, an early morning group flow session gets everyone's energy aligned for a day of exploring.
SheBuysTravel Tip:When you've finished the early morning stretch, follow the walking trail downtown, where you can wander without the crowds and enjoy a peaceful cup of coffee or tea.
Botanical Garden of the Ozarks
- WHY GO? A calm, beautiful way to begin a weekend away. The 12-acre public garden features themed spaces, seasonal blooms and scenic walking paths just minutes from downtown.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: It offers a slower-paced moment in the itinerary that is fantastic for group photos and a scenic reset.
SheBuysTravel Tip:Pay for the guided tour. You not only get to enjoy the botanical beauty, you'll also learn about native plants and garden visitors – from local turtles to monarchs migrating through.
Mount Sequoyah
- WHY GO? Go for the panoramic views of the city from a quiet, tree-lined setting.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: It is the best spot for sunset moments and photos, providing a peaceful contrast to the downtown bustle.
Highroller Cyclery+ Greenway Experience
- WHY GO? Quality bike rentals with direct access to the Razorback Greenway, making it easy to see it all – downtown, parks, campus and local businesses.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: Biking a city is the car-free way to explore a city together while staying active. Note: they do not rent e-bikes. Fayetteville is hilly.
George's Majestic Lounge
- WHY GO? As Arkansas' longest-running live music venue (established in 1927), it offers a sense of history and authentic local culture.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: It provides a low-key but authentic night out centered around live music.
Maxine's Tap Room
- WHY GO? This iconic bar has been shaped by female leadership since 1950; current owner Hannah Withers preserves its legacy while evolving the experience.
- GIRLS GETAWAY FACTOR: We found it a welcoming, “distinctly Fayetteville” spot (like most spots in Fayetteville), ideal for dancing or a late-night hang with a mix of locals and visitors.
