Thurston County Commission ousts another director
The Thurston County Commissioners have axed a third department head.
On Tuesday morning, following an executive session, the Board of County Commissioners directed county manager Ramiro Chavez to ask Resource Stewardship director Brent Butler to resign, effective immediately.
“They had lost confidence in his leadership ability,” said county spokesman Bryan Dominique.
Josh Cummings, who is the county’s sustainability and economic development manager, will serve as the department’s interim director until the position is filled.
Butler had been with the county for about 16 months.
The three-member commission ousted Tom Stuebner, former Public Health and Social Services director, in January, and Public Defense Director Daryl Rodrigues in February. Two of the commissioners were elected in November.
