Man’s body found Monday afternoon near Ensign Road in Olympia

The body of a 58-year-old man was found Monday afternoon near Ensign Road and Martin Way in Olympia, Olympia police and Thurston County Coroner say.

About 3:20 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to a pump station near Ensign Road. The station is enclosed by fencing and the man’s body was found behind the station, but outside the fence, Coroner Gary Warnock said.

Although the body showed no signs of trauma, police are still treating the death as suspicious until they learn more about it from the coroner, Lt. Paul Lower said.

The man’s identity, cause and manner of death are still to be determined.

This is the second body found in the area in the past two weeks. The remains of 20-year-old woman were found near Thurston County Animal Services at the end of March.

That person was identified Tuesday as Marea A. Hines, according to the coroner.
