Coroner identifies Lacey motorcyclist who died in Tuesday crash on Pacific Avenue

A 24-year-old Lacey motorcyclist who died in a Tuesday crash on Pacific Avenue has been identified.

Samuel Krenik died of blunt force trauma to the head and torso, Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock told The Olympian.

The crash occurred at 9:10 a.m. Tuesday on the 3700 block of Pacific Avenue near Lilly Road in Olympia. Police closed the roadway for about four hours as they investigated, The Olympian previously reported.

Witnesses tried to resuscitate Krenik, but he died at the scene, Lt. Paul Lower said. The wreck did not involve any other vehicles or pedestrians, he said.

Images from the scene showed Krenik’s motorcycle lying on its right side and his helmet some distance away.

On Thursday, Lower said police have yet to determine what caused the crash. Investigators will still be processing information for a “couple weeks,” he added.
