Coroner identifies Yelm man who died in Feb. 21 wrong-way crash on State Route 510

A Yelm man who died in a two-vehicle crash north of Yelm on Feb. 21 has been identified.

Scott Brown, 36, died of blunt force trauma, said Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock.

The crash occurred at about 9 p.m. at milepost 11 of State Route 510, The Olympian previously reported. Brown reportedly crossed the center line in his Mazda sedan and struck an eastbound Toyota sedan. Both vehicles came to rest in ditches on opposite sides of the road, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo.

The memo said Brown did not wear a seat belt and died at the scene. His car was totaled. The driver of the Toyota sedan, a 30-year-old man, wore his seat belt and was not injured, according to the memo.

State Patrol previously indicated it was unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved.
