Woman found dead in homeless encampment near I-5 has been identified

The Thurston County coroner has identified the woman who died in an encampment near Interstate 5 on April 1.

The Thurston County Coroner has identified the woman who died in an encampment near Interstate 5 on Saturday, April 1.

Coroner Gary Warnock said the woman was Megan Brumfield, 33. The examination to determine the cause of her death will take place Tuesday, April 4.

Brumfield was found unconscious by emergency workers inside a tent in an encampment near southbound I-5 and Sleater Kinney Road. She was pronounced dead shortly after police arrived at the scene.
