A man found dead in a tent off the Chehalis Western Trail has been identified, according to the Thurston County Coroner.

Justin T. McConnell, 40, was found the afternoon of Feb. 20, The Olympian previously reported.

Coroner Gary Warnock said Sunday the man was identified via fingerprints. The cause of the man’s death is now awaiting toxicology results, he said.

About 12:20 p.m. Feb. 20, Olympia police were dispatched to a part of the trail that is just north of Martin Way in Olympia.

Olympia police Lt. Paul Lower described the scene as a single tent campsite with no other people around. He said it appeared the man had died several days ago. It’s unclear if drugs were involved, but there were no signs of foul play at the scene, he said.
