Enjoy coffee as you drive? Just know that this Thurston rest area will be closed

Drivers headed north on Monday may want to go with a tall coffee over a venti-size beverage because the Scatter Creek rest area in Thurston County will close for maintenance.

The rest area will close from 3 p.m. Monday until 3 p.m. Thursday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The milepost 91 exit to the rest area also will be closed, WSDOT says.

WSDOT is closing the rest area to prepare it for the summer travel season.

Projects at the rest area include restroom fixture repairs, toilet replacement and plumbing repairs. Crews will also paint, pressure wash, landscape and clear drains, according to WSDOT.

Crews completed similar work at the nearby southbound I-5 Maytown safety rest area in March.
