Lacey South Sound Chamber names Sierra Burton executive director

Sierra Burton is the new executive director of the Lacey South Sound Chamber of Commerce.

Burton, 26, replaces Stephanie Hemphill, who left the chamber in June to take a job with the Association of Washington Business.

Burton has been with the chamber since March 2014. She was the interim executive director, and before that, the event coordinator.

Burton said Thursday during the Lacey City Council work session that she has three goals for the chamber: to spur economic growth, to work closely with Lacey’s military community, and to get the chamber involved in the community beyond business interests. .

On the economic development front, she plans to meet regularly with Michael Cade, executive director of the Thurston Economic Development Council, Burton said.
