Hard to believe that toxic algae generated more reader interest than an arrest made in a gruesome dog’s death.

1. Toxic algae warnings issued for two Thurston County lakes: Thurston County health officials issued toxic algae warnings Thursday morning for Long and Pattison lakes.

2. Suspect arrested in Thurston County dog rape and death: According to animal services, the suspect is a felon with a criminal history that includes domestic violence, burglary and drug charges.

3. 1 person dies Monday in crash on Rainier Road: A driver died early Monday when his vehicle left the road and hit a tree on Rainier Road, according to Thurston County dispatchers.

4. 5. Police seek Lacey car prowl suspect, identity of man in image: The man is suspected of taking a black Swiss Army backpack and the laptop in an Aflac bag. The suspect was photographed about 10 minutes later riding a bicycle on School Street near Husky Way.
